We finally did it. We were able to have a small gathering to celebrate moving into our new home. It was only 10 months after the move, but who’s counting.
Thankfully, the rain held off. It was a bit cool, and very cloudy, but it was still a party and for that I was very thankful. It was really nice to see everyone! Now, it’s true, for the most part I am very happy to live as a bit of a recluse. I am most at ease hanging out with the cats and the dog, and of course Dirk and Cheyenne. But, every now and again, I do like to see our friends. Waiting 10 months to hang out has been a bit longer that I would normally like, even for me.
It was also nice to cook for people again, although, per my usual, I cooked too much. We will be eating potato salad for days on end. I made a ramen noodle salad too, but there isn’t much of that left. Dirk grilled enough meat to feed the whole town, but no worries, Jack the Husky is ready and willing to help him eat it all. Burgers for breakfast and dinner for the next week it seems.
Jack was even thrilled to have guests, there were two young boys over that ran and ran with him. I think this picture is a perfect description of how we felt at the end of the day. Happy, tired and content.
How about you? Have you been able to get together with friends and family now that some of the lock down rules are being lifted around the world? I would love to hear about it in the comments section!
We’ve had one or two people over to christen the man cave bar but haven’t done a group gathering yet. I’m afraid I’ve forgotten how.

I was definitely my usual socially awkward self, but I did manage quite well. Surprisingly.

My book club met in person in may and have plans to do so again in July. I’m 2.5 weeks away from a trip to see my family in kentucky.

Very nice!!
My husband has had his first injection, and I am scheduled for mine beginning of July. So, I am hopeful for a few more get togethers.

Oh how I wish we could have a get together with at least our children and grandkids. Although we did manage, and legally permitted, to have stayed over at our daughters place to take care of her two children while she went to hospital to have a new baby. That was so special as we have not been able to given them a hug or cuddle in almost 1½ years, so this was super special. Unfortnately we have not been able to see our son and his family so we will have to wait for the ban to be lifted, but hopefully soon. Glad that you were able to catch up and have a welcome new home party.

We had our pandemic bubble friends that we saw all year. Just one family but at least we had something. And Florida had this in your face attitude about quarantine as in…was there a quarantine?

I’ve heard that from about Florida from a family member. Glad you have been able to see friends.

I’m so glad for you! I know that was a really long time coming. I’m thrilled to be going to a writing retreat this weekend and to Ohio to visit my dad in a couple weeks, where we’ll hang with other family. Feels so good to get together with folks again!

Well we went out for a meal in a pub on Friday night (missing the England soccer to do so) – socially distanced, astonishing how few indoor drinkers were wearing masks. Fortunately we’re both fully vaccinated – thank God for the NHS in the UK
